The Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya is home to the Nartiang Monolith- a collection of monoliths that are considered the tallest in the world. The monoliths were built at Jowai to mark the reign of the former Jaintia kings.
Monoliths are straight structures carved out of a single stone that serves as a monument or pillar. According to local legend, the tallest monolith in the cluster, Moo Eong Siem, which is eight meters tall, was built by Yu Mar Phalingki. Phalingaki was a trusted lieutenant of a Jaintia king.
The stone pillar here dates from 1500 to 1835. Arguably, this is the largest collection of monoliths in one place.

Located about 18 km from Cherrapunji, Rainbow Waterfall is a popular yet serene waterfall located near the village of Nongrit. It is located about 3 km from the Double Decker Root Bridge at Nongriet and can only be reached by trekking.

Solitude in the forest, this waterfall got its name because whenever the rays of the sun fall on the waterfall, a small rainbow is visible here. But only the lucky ones can witness this phenomenon as sunshine is not frequent in this part of India.

The only way to reach Rainbow Waterfall is by trekking through the double-decker root bridge at Nongriot village. So, you have to reach Tirna village first and then climb 3,000 steps to Nongrit village.
